ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the near or remote antiquity of the earth from Biblical data. Genesis I dealt with the remodeling of just Palestine, the original creation not even being touched upon in Genesis 1:1 and is irrelevant to the Biblical record. Another form of secondary-creation is that Genesis 1:1 deals with the creation of the universe and world. Then this was put in the hands of Satan, then an unfallen angel. He fell and judgment was passed on the earth and it was destroyed. Gruber has pointed out that a strict chronological principle can not be used in Genesis 1. He points out that although the sun, moon, and stars were created in Genesis 1:1, their appearance is not given till the fourth day. Therefore, for purposes of clear delineation chronological features may either be sacrificed or distorted such as in the appearance of plant forms in the third day apart from animal forms.
