ABSTRACT

The smartphone is the defining object of today. And yet its sophistication and complexity endlessly demand our attention in ways that are disruptive and even addictive. In an effort to resist these distractions, Swiss electronics manufacturer Punkt. set out to create the MP 02, a phone with just the essentials: calls, texts, calendar, and simple navigation. In this case study, Studio Folder presents the process of designing the MP 02’s user interface. Established in 2013 by Elisa Pasqual and architecture graduate Marco Ferrari, Studio Folder’s work shows how architectural intelligence can be applied to graphic and interaction design, critical fields in today’s digital world.
