ABSTRACT

This chapter is based on a dialectical model presented in a book published in Hebrew – “Colors ‏of ‏soul ‏and ‏mind: ‏Art ‏therapy ‏for ‏children ‏who ‏behave ‏aggressively” (Nissimov-Nahum, 2013). The model is the outcome of a study that examined the practice, dilemmas, successes and difficulties typical of art therapists working in educational settings and is designed to help address the challenges involved in treating this population. The model draws on key approaches to aggression, the multitude of external and internal factors that can trigger aggression and the many challenges that characterize the treatment of this population. A case study describing the implementation of the model is presented.
