ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a concise overview of Brian Ellis’ philosophical system, known as “scientific essentialism” (SE). SE incorporates other important forms of essentialism (notably natural-kind essentialism and dispositional essentialism) into a broader model for the metaphysics of science.
