ABSTRACT

Environmental challenges and sustainable development are more prominent in our daily lives. Successive UN Sustainable Development reports identify the necessary policy measures for achieving environmental sustainability and SDGs. In conjunction with pertinent stakeholders, governments must highlight climate change; identify adverse effects of environmental pollution on human health, the environment, social equalities, and the requisite to adopt environmentally friendly technologies and innovations. Concisely, every religion focuses on increasing man's welfare, protecting the planet, striving for economic prosperity, and strengthening human partnerships to maintain peace at the local and global levels. Religious harmony and inter-faith cooperation among the world nations would ultimately provide the impetus to mitigate climate change's harmful effects and achieve the 2030 SDGs. Therefore, it is the responsibility of financial institutions to examine whether a project generates negative externalities on the people and the planet. Religion has a prominent role in determining its followers’ moral behavior and closely interwoven with charity and social welfare.
