“Playing Concerts Is Not Enough”

In light of the ongoing development and innovations of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, its managing director Albert Schmitt and Martin Tröndle relay the success story of the ensemble, which is viewed as an entrepreneurial orchestra and as an actor within civil society. Looking at the economics underlying state-funded orchestras and the classical music scene more generally, the authors also discuss different opportunities of collaboration between the art and business fields.
