ABSTRACT

Learning-oriented assessment (LOA), like assessment for learning, is designed to enhance learning in the classroom. Success requires both teachers and learners to have a range of essential skills and competences at their disposal. This chapter extends the definition of language assessment literacy to encompass the LOA context. It begins with a reconceptualization of what validity means in an LOA context and then examines the correlate practical skills with which teachers need to be familiar in order to practice LOA successfully.
