ABSTRACT
This essay is directed towards the assumption that, by using metaphors in theatre studies, one can more easily include self-reflection and artistic creativity to expand understanding in analytical approaches to complex investigations in artistic matters. This is favourable to practice research, serving explanations by allegories related to expressions that otherwise would be difficult to explain. Since performativity may not be subject to performance analysis based in stable conventions, it thus cannot be explained by positivist models.
