ABSTRACT

The article aims to present a case study in the city of Bogotá and how planning and design are relevant in its specific social, economic, and environmental context. A case study of a tropical mountain megacity in one of the most biodiverse countries on the planet is relevant insofar as the lessons learned from cities with shared complexity and concrete actions from citizens can contribute to critical thinking and alternatives for other cases. As actions to reconcile society with nature, they contribute as peace actions in a country where the human being and his agreements must be the center of biodiversity management. Since the author is a designer and planner and at the same time an activist leading the defense of Bogotá’s biodiversity, cross-cutting issues are presented within planning and design to be considered in regeneration processes.
