ABSTRACT

Victoria Sackville-West was born in 1892 and died in 1962. She wrote poetry and novels of which the best-known are All Passion Spent, 1931, and The Easter Party, 1953. Her long poem ‘The Land’ was perhaps her best. She was also a biographer and a great friend of Virginia Woolf (who took her as model for the enigmatic ‘Orlando’). Her gardens at Sissinghurst are famous throughout England.
