ABSTRACT

To ensure second-grade teachers were prepared to complete their critical role in identifying high-potential students in their classrooms, they were provided with professional development that focused on familiarizing them with the details of the Scales for Rating the Behavioral Characteristics of Superior Students (SCRBCSS). Especially important for the purposes of Promoting PLACE in Rural Schools was ensuring teachers were aware of how to recognize the ways the characteristics identified in the scales may manifest in rural students. This chapter provides details of the training in the context of place-conscious considerations of student performance.
