ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the emotional impact of facing a challenging, life-changing health diagnosis and the impact this had upon the author’s personal and professional life. Issues around therapist illness are discussed alongside the implications for clinical practice and the author’s longer term career. Having been diagnosed just prior to the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, the author also explores his situation within the context of the developing pandemic and the ongoing impact of these parallel experiences that provide a powerful counterpoint between the personal and the global.
