ABSTRACT

It summaries Stephanie Topp’s chapter on the COVID-19 pandemic and public health systems, Pranee Liamputtong and Zoe Sanipreeya Rice’s chapter on inequalities in health and illness, and Jonathan Makuwira’s chapter on disability-inclusive development. In addition, it summarizes Diana Mitlin and colleagues’ chapter on global solidarity and urban inequality, Poonam Devi and Naohiro Nakamura’s interrogation of the global housing crisis, and Aarti Krishnan’s exploration of efforts to improve working conditions and wages along global value chains. It discusses Tanja Bastia and Ron Skeldon’s chapter on internal and international migration, Joseph Bazirake and Carolina Suransky’s study of forced migration, Jessica Hawkins’ call for more scholarship to bridge development studies and peace and conflict studies, Vandra Harris Agisilaou’s call for development to be more attentive to the specific needs of children and Penny Vera-Sanso’s chapter of ageing and development.
