ABSTRACT
Several Irish women, wives of soldiers, who have gone abroad, were brought into court, to be examined as to their settlements, but being very comfortable in the House of Industry, they have made up their minds to know nothing about their place of birth; some refuse to be sworn. There seems to be a regular combination amongst them to wait the return of their husbands, at the House of Industry, at the expense of the rate-payers of the Island.
