ABSTRACT

As noted earlier in section 1.2.5., 38, Colour Sergeant Thomas Faughnan (1835– 1883), an Irishman, joined the 6^th Royal Regiment in 1847. He served twenty-one years in the army, and was considered an exemplary non-commissioned officer.
