ABSTRACT

Lieutenant-General Sir George MacMunn was a distinguished British soldier and author. He was born in London in 1869, and entered the army in 1888, serving in Burma, South Africa, India, and during the First World War in the Dardanelles and Mesopotamia. MacMunn was made major-general in 1917, and he retired in 1925. He wrote extensively on military and historical matters, producing both factual pieces and fiction. His work focused primarily on India and he was a founder of the Kipling Society. MacMunn died in 1952.
