ABSTRACT

The purpose of games in this section is to build trust and community, getting groups ready to play and learn. These games scaffold learners to communicative and improvisational success, honing Tenet 1: Be Present & Pay Attention, and Tenet 3: Take Risks and Be Ridiculous, outlined in Chapter 1. Put learners at ease with games that are fun, simple, and quick, loosening up the body and mind. This chapter includes low anxiety, non-verbal activities or limited verbal output and these games have the added strength of putting a group at ease, especially one that may include students less comfortable with performance or extrovert activity in general.
