ABSTRACT

Open Building research in the latter part of the 20th century led to projects in Finland that were some of the earliest to be realized in the private sector by for-profit developers. Linked to data-management tools, these projects had an influence that has led to more being built, and to the publication of guidelines linking sustainability and the Open Building approach. This chapter tells the story of these developments, presents several exemplary projects, and discusses barriers to and opportunities for further projects to be realized in Finland.
