ABSTRACT

Becca Adson is Head of Year 8 at MEA Central, Manchester, and is a lesbian. In this chapter, she writes about a powerful impact of an assembly she led for International Day Against Homophobia Biphobia and Transphobia, and the other ways in which she has made a difference for LGBT+ students. She states that supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and others (LGBT+) inclusion in schools should not be dismissed as the “fluffy stuff that does not necessarily contribute to league tables”. She argues that it improves students’ ability to access learning more effectively and demonstrates some ways in which she has had an impact.
