ABSTRACT

Will Goldsmith is Director of Teaching and Learning at Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith, West London. He is a progressive at heart, working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and others (LGBT+) students in his school, championing equality and diversity at managerial level. In our penultimate chapter, he writes about the small steps we can all take to change the narrative in schools about LGBT+ teachers: from rainbow lanyards, to parental meetings, to exploring queerness and to encouraging nonconformity. Will suggests that if teachers are not out and proud, we cannot expect students to be.
