ABSTRACT

Kip Webb-Heller is a trans, non-binary, queer trainee teacher. They are motivated by inclusion and hope to use their experiences as a queer person, an art specialist and a Jew to make a difference to the world. They live with their fiancé and dog near Brighton. In this chapter, they offer their unique perspective on their teacher training as an "out" trans teacher from the very beginning, the impact this had on them as an individual and on the young people they taught.

This is the first time this book tackles "levels of privilege" where, as a trans person, Kip is also white and able bodied but does not experience discrimination for those. This is also the first chapter that explores intersectionality: the idea that a person is not merely gay or white or male or trans, but can be all of these and more.
