ABSTRACT

Catherine Halliwell is a proudly 'out' teacher. In addition to advocating for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and others (LGBT+) community in her school, across the Trust, borough and beyond, she is a school Mental Health Champion. Cerian Craske is currently a second year English student at Cambridge, and she was part of the group who founded the LGBT+ Society with guidance from Catherine. This moving chapter tells the same story from two different perspectives: that of an 'out' teacher and that of a student whose life was changed as a result.
