ABSTRACT
James Bennett is an English teacher at Ark Academy in Wembley. He takes part in Teach First's lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and others (LGBT+) network and has written for the TES, The Guardian and other publications about his experiences. In this chapter he further explores the importance of creating the right culture for LGBT+ staff and young people in schools and how, if it isn't right, staff and students suffer.
