ABSTRACT

There has been increasing interest in recent years in the use of cognitionbased therapies with people diagnosed as having Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias (Clare, 2004; Woods, 2004). A Cochrane systematic review has been produced examining the effectiveness of such approaches in the context of early-stage Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia (Clare, Woods, Moniz-Cook, Orrell, & Spector, 2003), which identified gaps in the outcome literature with people with dementia. However, the application of these approaches to individuals falling into the category of having a mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is even less well developed.
