ABSTRACT

Despite the significant benefits of physical activity on both physical health and mental health and wellbeing, many individuals are not as active as recommendations suggest. Behaviour change theory is critical to the development of effective and engaging interventions to support physical activity among individuals with chronic conditions. The aim of this chapter is to introduce the reader to theoretical perspectives on behaviour change, as well as key determinants of physical activity among young people with cystic fibrosis (CF). The chapter concludes by outlining potentially promising interventions for supporting and promoting physical activity among the CF population.
