ABSTRACT
This chapter describes how Trump mobilizes his narcissism to connect to his followers. He holds out a fantasy of greatness that tempts the mutual construction of a reality, one that gives reassurance and bolsters self-esteem. Narcissism’s seductive qualities are the key to understanding what the figure of Trump means for his followers, and, more generally, for the emotional tenor of our country at this historical moment.
