ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an analysis of the present and coming global multifaceted crises as problems that need to be understood as interconnected rather than understood in isolation. A systems view of life is presented as a conceptual framework that integrates four dimensions of life (biological, cognitive, social, and ecological). The systems view of life involves a new kind of thinking that sees relationships, patterns, and context that can lead to a new Earth ethics.
