ABSTRACT

In human history, there have been various of philosophical trends from the West or the East. The postmodernism has provided people with broader and more miscellaneous perspective to view the world, which in postmodernist opinion is a fragmented and deconstructed mass(Harvey, 1990). Since the late twentieth century, many publications have declared the end of postmodernism, though no specific evidence is offered to prove its credibility. People living in an age of advanced science and technology have witnessed and experienced so much alienation and frustration confronted with the age dominated by digits, machines, uncertainty and infinity. Especially the young generation seem at a loss for not being able to identify themselves. History itself is the greatest philosopher, and the come and go of philosophical genres follows an invisible rule yet undefined. If postmodernism is over, then what will be the substitution? To answer this question, it is necessary to take a retrospective look upon humanism since human mind is the source of ideas.
