ABSTRACT
Multiple parallel sand bars are found in southeastern Cape Cod Bay and on other low-energy coastlines. The conditions under which they form are: sand-sized sediment supply, low slope gradients, repeatedly breaking and reconstructing waves, high tidal range, and low wave energy. The precise relationships between the conditions under which multiple parallel sand bars form are yet to be determined.
