ABSTRACT

This chapter presents performance measurement systems (PMSs) as a package. According to this approach, PMSs include all the tools and systems managers use to ensure that the behaviors and decisions of their employees are consistent with the objectives and strategies of the organization.

The authors present the roots of a poor performance measurement in artistic and cultural organizations, going on to introduce a comprehensive framework to measure performance. The framework is discussed in detail, presenting an international case of external performance measurement. Conclusions and suggestions complete the chapter.
