ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses Indigenous youth participation in language revitalization efforts in digital spaces and provides two examples of such efforts by two Indigenous youths from two provinces in Indonesia, namely Lampung and Riau Islands. It explains the historical overview of the Indigenous language activism practices, explores misperceptions addressed toward Indigenous youths, describes the responses from the youths to such misperceptions, details implications for pedagogy, research, and social academic responsibilities, and provides recommendations for future research and praxis.
