ABSTRACT

It is not entirely clear to me whether Gordon’s theistic quantum-informational idealism also includes a kind of panpsychism, but I will argue that it should. First, I will show the compatibility between panpsychism and quantum-informational idealism, but conclude by outlining why I have theological reservations about fully embracing Gordon’s version of theistic idealism. This leads to a brief discussion of the question: How much theology should we derive from quantum mechanics? Second, I will examine the origin of souls (conscious subjects) on Gordon’s view. I question the possibility of combining creationism and traducianism, as Gordon proposes, and argue that adopting a more explicit panpsychist-traducianism would be the best way forward for Gordon.
