ABSTRACT

Souls are divinely created primitive immaterial persons with haecceities. This is the main thesis of Joshua Farris’s paper advocating creationist-dualism. The paper develops in three main stages. First, several attributes of the self are set out and defended. Next, these attributes are used to refute several competing views of the soul, including materialism and “obscure” dualisms. Finally, the attributes are employed in order to establish Farris’s own creationist view concerning the soul.
