ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book begins by exploring history as both a profession and an ongoing conversation or debate; tracing how research questions rise and evolve; and recognizing that research is an iterative process. It examines why and how historians work with secondary sources during their research. The book describes how historians engage with live sources, and surveyed some of the benefits and challenges of oral history research methods. It examines how historians draw conclusions from large collections of primary sources. The book addresses an aspect of historical research that is growing in importance every year: technology.
