ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the practice of a firm-farm relationship where there is little moral obligation between farmers and the firm. Using the multinomial regression framework, the chapter models the initial inclusion and retention of farmers in the Aditya Birla More supermarket supply chain (ABM) using primary data. The analysis shows that the size of landholdings is not a predictor of participation, but farmers having pre-participation access to productive assets are more likely to continue.
