ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the process of agricultural transformation and sources of growth in agriculture in South Asian countries and suggests measures for faster, efficient and sustainable growth. It examines trends in broad indicators of structural transformation and identifies sources of growth, namely, technological change or yield improvement, price increases, area expansion and area reallocation or diversification and provides policy directions for accelerating agricultural growth.
