ABSTRACT
Starting from conversations with trans support groups and activists in the postcolonial world, this chapter reflects on the issues trans women and other groups face and the conditions that give rise to those issues. It discusses the agency in transitioning lives, some forms of collective organizing among trans women, and the contemporary political environment that offers both threats and support. It raises questions, finally, about the intellectual and political possibilities that open if we prioritise perspectives from the global South.
