ABSTRACT
This chapter considers how professional identity, particularly key attributes and values can be explicated through consultation with professionals. Four consultative methods are described: reconstitutive ethnography, critical incident technique, expert system approach and the Delphi method. A case study of the Clinical Facilitator in Nurse Education is presented. This study of a hybrid identity combining nursing and educational professional identities was based on consultation with practitioners combining the four methods outlined in the chapter.
