ABSTRACT

In an attempt to reconcile various positions on what defines architecture, researcher Brandon Clifford exercises speculative built works against a range of approaches. Beginning with architecture as object, then as enclosure, and ultimately as body; these experiments in architectural conception are compared against each other. These comparisons offer a lens into a deeper definition of Clifford’s contribution to the field of architecture. Each section is explored through a series of built works that fold in a variety of disciplinary constraints, while holding tight to a unique thread that ties them all together – deceit and deception.
