ABSTRACT

This study aims to examine the present state and the Korean government’s promotion policy of Korean language education worldwide, and to propose a development plan for it. Many are learning the Korean language at educational institutions worldwide, such as the King Sejong Institute, the Korea Education Centre, and regular local institutions. This is due to the spread of Hallyu and the government’s promotional efforts, as well as the rise of Korea’s national prestige. However, it is time for Korean language education to focus on qualitative growth beyond quantitative growth. A constant effort by the Korean language education sector is required.
