ABSTRACT

Evidence-based policing (EBP) is here to stay. We can say this with a great deal of confidence, not only because of the contents of this volume and the police scholars and practitioners represented here, but also due to the state of development of EBP across the world—a product of almost 30 years of research, practice, training, and advocacy. Recognizing this state of affairs and the work that still needs to be done, this book set out to engage the most pressing challenge facing EBP—bridging the divide between research and practice (and researchers and practitioners). It has done so by bringing together and examining innovative approaches to improving the integration of research and practice in policing from across the world. Drawing on the 18 chapters commissioned for the book, this concluding chapter identifies some lessons learned and next steps for the global movement of EBP.
