ABSTRACT
Advanced coaching education has a social responsibility in being a pivotal factor in alleviating the barriers that female coaches face within their future career trajectory. This chapter illustrates some examples of the barriers and supports that female graduate-level sports coaching students face in pursuit of the sports coaching profession, to facilitate a greater understanding as to how a graduate-level coaching education programme can better serve its female coaches. N. M. LaVoi and J. K. Dutove proposed an Ecological Systems Model that identifies factors that hinder women as well as factors that support women in pursuit of the sports coaching profession. This model underpinned the research by providing an analysis of how advanced-level coaching education can help deconstruct the barriers and augment support for female coaches. Mentorship opportunities emerge as a call to action to address the career development support that is required for female coaches within graduate-level coaching education programmes.
