ABSTRACT
The history of a particular discipline in a given country may be examined as the development of ideas, prominent individuals and their schools, or of international relations and explorations. One should also consider the size of the country and its geographical situation, for both factors control the direction and scale of the research which is undertaken. However, it may be examined also as the product of economic and political conditions since these are reflected by accelerations and halts in that development.
