ABSTRACT

Mr. Krausz had drawn attention to the difficulty of determining the proportion of ‘self-employed’ among Jews. Dr. S. Prais commented upon Mr. Krausz’s remark that ‘economic advancement has brought about a vast decline in the Jewish working class, auguring the possibility of its virtual elimination.’ The Rev. W. W. Simpson regretted that ‘in the list of papers submitted to the Conference there is not a paper reflecting any study or any consultation with members of the non-Jewish community.’ Mr. S. S. Levin raised the question of the future supply of officials to manage the various institutions of Anglo-Jewry. Dr. J. Highet, speaking as a Gentile and a Scot, expressed his appreciation of the opportunity afforded him to attend the Conference.
