ABSTRACT

The chapter aims to shed light on the articulated complexity of the continental, regional, or sub-regional African organizations in relationship with both the European Union (EU) and with other major world powers, in light of the growing interest of the latter towards the African institutions, which, though little known, are rich in potential not yet fully expressed, being at the crossroad of increasing tasks in the global economy and in international relations today.

Regarding bilateral relations, each African country has been so far undergoing severe weaknesses, except for a few of them, such as South Africa, Angola, Nigeria, and Ethiopia, which on the contrary are by now able to exercise their hegemony on the intra-continental scale and towards the rest of the world through a diversification of partnerships.
