ABSTRACT

The increasing international dimension of the role of cities as economic and political actors is on the edge of the academic and policy debate on cities. The capacity of cities and the need for a mutual exchange and urban cooperation framework to develop pragmatic solutions to respond to critical urban challenges concerning human rights implementation related to climate change, energy and digital transition, and urban health governance is the major and collateral frame to which this chapter might contribute. Its structure will focus on the role of city networks and urban international cooperation policies in fostering the interaction between EU and African cities, identifying the lack of understanding of the current scholarship of cities’ network of the complex dynamics of urbanization and of the challenges posed by the EU-African cities networking and cooperation.
