ABSTRACT
Wine and religion were intricately linked in the ancient Greco-Roman religions, Judaism and Christianity as an integral part of their most important rituals as well as a significant component of celebrating their feast days. Thus, wine played a major role in Christian culture in the West. Moreover, in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries this wine culture was exported to North and South America, Africa and Asia.
