ABSTRACT

One of the most important tasks of Critical Discourse Studies is a systematic analysis of racist discourse as the source of racist attitudes and ideologies and hence of the reproduction of the system of racism. After a brief summary of the theory of racism, consisting of racist practices (such as racist text and talk of the symbolic elites) and racist cognition (such as racist ideologies), this chapter reviews studies of racism of mass and social media discourse and its contexts, political discourse (such as parliamentary debates and party programmes) and educational discourse (such as curricula and textbooks).
