ABSTRACT
This essay considers the form of the duet as a particular configuration in which to think and as a composition that is the product of the combined effort of two individuals. Discussing a series of performance duets made by the author in collaboration with a number of different partner artists—including the 2013 performance Control Signal made with Sophie Grodin—the chapter describes some distinct qualities found to be specific to working in pairs on collaborative duet performance compositions.
