ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book is the first attempt, following research presented at the International History of Public Relations Conference, to shed light on the topic. It opens with the first two chapters providing an overview of women in public relations. The book looks at findings from the European Communications Monitor in the period from 2009 to 2019. It focuses on the case of Turkey, which seems to have a rich history of women in public relations. The book also focuses on specific cases from Oceania (Australia), Europe (Spain), Asia (Malaysia and Thailand) and America (United States). It offers important insights into Australian public relations history and examines the case of Helen Lumbreras. The book documents a ‘her-story’ of Paddy Schubert (now called Paddy Bowie) and her 60 years of experience in Malaysian public relations.
